What I do on your production
I started as an assistant director and went through the gallery, the engineering room and the OB. I know what the director needs and what the signal needs.
Video engineer (vision engineer)
Camera shading and matching on the CCU and RCP, so every camera looks the same on air: exposure, colour, black level.
Multi-camera set-up
Building the camera chain: cameras, CCUs, signal routing and monitoring, checked before rehearsal.
Camera rigging
Long broadcast lenses on heavy tripods and pedestals, balanced and ready for the operators.
Technical producer
Planning the kit, the crew and the signal flow, and running the technical side of the show on the day.
Engineer and senior engineer
Studio and OB engineering, fault finding under pressure, keeping the show on air.
Director and assistant director
Where I started: I understand the gallery, the rundown and the director's call.
